AUSA general membership meeting held in Fort Hood

Fort Hood held its annual AUSA general membership meeting this week. Billy Mills, a well known local resident who owns Modern TV and Appliance, was installed as president of the Central Texas Fort Hood Chapter. The chapter has grown to be one of the largest if not largest, overcoming Fort Bragg’s hold on that distinction. Mills pointed out in his speech that the relationship between Fort Hood and the surrounding communities has grown to a family relationship that accounts for a very proud statistic. Over 90% of the families stay in the area, whether on base or off,  when a soldier deploys. Several awards were given out to community members: Gen. Robert M. Shoemaker Award to Susan Jones; Brig. Gen. James L. King Award to Bradley Whitis; and Roy J. Smith Award to Bill and Anna Crawford.
