EU crisis solution threatened over division

The plans by France and Germany to rescue the euro through closer European unity is in jeopardy because of the divisions within the EU nations.  German chancelor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy wanted changes to EU treaties to tighten controls over spending and borrowing.  Britain fears that the new controls will create a transfer of power from London to Brussells and will weaken Britains influence in the EU.  Britain along with other countries in the EU who don’t use the Euro currency have been lukewarm to Germany and France’s demand for similar reasons.
