Most crimes in Killeen are going down

According to Killeen Police Department Chief Dennis Baldwin, statistics showed double-digit declines in most crime categories.  Aggravated assaults, larcenies, rapes and robberies have all declined from last year, only homicides and burglaries have gone up.  The reasoning for the lower rates are because of grants awarded by the city have allowed the Killeen Police Department to increase staff positions.  From 2008 to 2009, the department was downsized due to budget constraints.
