Freedom Fest coming to Fort Hood

Fort Hood’s Main Gate and Clear Creek gates will be open from 12:00 PM through 10:00 PM for the post’s annual Freedom Fest. The event draws over 100,000 every year. It will be held in the same area as always. This time however, Hood Stadium will be missing. It was demolished last year to make room for the new Darnell Hospital. The annual fireworks will still happen (9:30 PM) even though Texas is in the midst of its hottest summer on record and the lack of rainfall has burn bans in effect. There will be a free carnival, laser tag, miniature stock car racing and moreletter. Freedom Fest is free and open to the public but a valid ID is required when entering the post.
