Overnight storms swept through the Central Texas area, leaving flash floods, emergency evacuations and power outages in several counties. In a 12-hour span, the National Weather Service recorded 3+ inches of rainfall at the Killeen-Ft. Hood National Airport and 5+ inches at Ft. Hood’s Robert Grey Airfield. Even though the hail wasn’t as severe as expected, many areas experienced marble-sized hail. Residents along Nolan Creek in Killeen had to be evacuated as creek waters started to rise. Several campuses in Killeen and Lampasas were temporarily without power and some buses had to take alternate routes because of flooding.
